Pune: Global agricultural machinery giant John Deere India Pvt. Ltd. has launched its Intelligent Solutions Group (ISG) in Pune, marking a major milestone in the company’s digital agriculture journey.
This state-of-the-art facility represents John Deere’s fifth significant investment in Maharashtra and will serve as a global hub for AI and machine learning-enabled smart farming solutions.
Speaking at the inauguration, Rajesh Sinha, Managing Director of John Deere India, said, “With ISG, we’re beginning a new chapter in advanced electronic solutions for agriculture. Our aim is to transform traditional farming into data-driven, precision agriculture that improves decision-making, productivity, and farmer profitability.”
Intelligent Solutions Group Pune to Power Global Operations
The John Deere Intelligent Solutions Group will support not only domestic manufacturing but also export operations worldwide. The Pune unit is expected to serve as a global innovation and production hub, aligning with John Deere’s commitment to ‘Make in India for the World.’
Sinha emphasized that the facility will contribute to John Deere’s larger footprint in India, where the company operates with over 14,000 employees, manages a $1.7 billion business, and has been recognized for 20 consecutive years with the Export Excellence Award from India’s Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
Precision Farming, Sustainability and SDG Alignment
The new facility will enable the development of autonomous tractors, satellite-controlled equipment, and precision farming tools, all designed to reduce operating costs, increase crop yields, and support India’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
“Our technology roadmap is built around autonomy, sustainability, and precision. We’re committed to delivering AI-powered solutions that help Indian and global farmers thrive,” Sinha added.
Export-Oriented Road Building Facility Also in Pipeline
In addition to ISG, John Deere is investing in a new export-focused road-building unit, which is fully constructed and awaiting regulatory approvals. Once operational, this facility will further bolster India’s position as a manufacturing powerhouse within the John Deere global ecosystem.
India’s Strategic Role in John Deere’s Global Supply Chain
India remains central to John Deere’s strategic growth, offering market scale, engineering talent, and supply chain competitiveness. With more than 240 suppliers, many of whom are part of its global sourcing network, John Deere continues to localize production with several Pune-made products being 100% locally sourced.
For nearly three decades, John Deere has set the benchmark for agricultural innovation in India, consistently upgrading its product line to cater to evolving farmer needs.
