GIFT City Industry Connect Engages Pune Inc., Explores Global Finance and Business Expansion Opportunities

GIFT City Industry Connect

Pune: GIFT City Industry Connect (GCIC) continued its nationwide outreach by engaging with business leaders in Pune, strengthening collaboration with one of India’s most globally connected industrial ecosystems.

The Pune edition of the initiative brought together 57 participants, including representatives from three major corporate groups from Pune and two leading fintech companies, to discuss opportunities for global finance, cross-border investments and international business expansion.

The GIFT City Industry Connect initiative is part of GIFT City’s ongoing engagement across India’s leading economic centres, reflecting a broader national vision of connecting the country’s manufacturing, technology and innovation hubs with world-class international financial infrastructure.

India’s economic journey is entering a new phase, with Indian companies increasingly expanding beyond domestic markets by acquiring overseas businesses, building global supply chains, establishing international research and development centres, and serving customers across continents.

As Indian enterprises become more global, the need for internationally competitive financial infrastructure has grown alongside their industrial capabilities. GIFT City’s International Financial Services Centre (IFSC) has been established to address this requirement.

The GIFT City Industry Connect event highlighted Pune’s role as one of India’s leading industrial and technology hubs.

The city is home to globally recognised companies across automotive, engineering, precision manufacturing, aerospace, pharmaceuticals, information technology and Global Capability Centres (GCCs).

These industries have positioned Pune as one of the principal contributors to India’s integration into global value chains.

As companies headquartered in Pune continue expanding internationally, their business requirements increasingly include sophisticated treasury management, cross-border capital access, risk management and international financial structuring in addition to manufacturing and innovation.

During the GIFT City Industry Connect discussions, participants explored how GIFT City’s internationally benchmarked regulatory and financial ecosystem could complement Pune’s industrial strengths.

The discussions focused on enabling companies to manage global treasury operations, raise international capital, undertake overseas investments, establish Corporate Treasury Centres and access specialised financial services while continuing to remain headquartered and create value in India.

Speaking on the occasion, Sanjay Kaul, Managing Director & Group CEO, GIFT City, said: “The success of India’s economic transformation will not be measured only by the number of factories we build or the products we export.

It will also be measured by whether Indian enterprises have access to financial infrastructure that matches their global ambitions.”

The GIFT City Industry Connect event also highlighted the complementary role of GIFT City in supporting India’s industrial growth through globally benchmarked financial infrastructure.

Kaul further added: “Cities such as Pune have created globally competitive capabilities in manufacturing, engineering, technology and innovation.

GIFT City is designed to complement these strengths by providing globally benchmarked financial infrastructure. Together, they create a powerful combination—world-class industrial capability supported by world-class international finance.”

Emphasising the broader objective of the initiative, Kaul said: “Our objective is not to shift businesses from Pune to GIFT City. Manufacturing, research, innovation and talent belong where they have naturally flourished. Our role is different.

We want GIFT City to become the financial gateway through which these enterprises access global capital, manage international treasury, structure overseas investments and compete more effectively in international markets.”

He further shared: “The larger vision is to build an integrated national economic architecture. India’s great industrial and technology clusters should remain engines of production and innovation, while GIFT City serves as the financial backbone that connects them seamlessly with global capital and international markets.

That is how India can create globally competitive enterprises while ensuring value creation remains anchored within the country.”

The GIFT City Industry Connect Pune edition reaffirmed GIFT City’s commitment to building long-term partnerships with India’s major economic centres.
