Mumbai: Hinduja Renewables Energy Private Limited (HREPL), part of the diversified Hinduja Group, has appointed Deepak Thakur as its new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, effective October 1, 2025.
With over three decades of leadership experience across renewable energy, infrastructure, industrial products, and electronics, Thakur’s appointment marks a strategic move in strengthening the company’s growth in India’s renewable energy domain.
Deepak Thakur’s Appointment to Strengthen Hinduja Renewables’ Strategic Vision
Prior to joining Hinduja Renewables, Deepak Thakur held leadership roles in reputed organizations such as the Mahindra Group, Reliance, Sterling & Wilson, L&T, Honeywell, and Thermax.

His extensive expertise spans the entire renewable energy value chain – including solar, wind, storage, and hybrid systems – covering project development, EPC, O&M, upstream technology, manufacturing, and asset monetisation through Infrastructure Investment Trusts (InvITs).
He succeeds Sumit Pandey, who stepped down from his position as Managing Director and CEO.

Deepak Thakur: A Proven Leader in India’s Renewable Energy Sector
A strong advocate for clean energy and sustainability, Deepak Thakur has significantly contributed to India’s renewable energy ecosystem. Notably, he played a key role in formulating the National Solar Thermal Policy in 2009, which laid the groundwork for the country’s long-term clean energy roadmap.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Pune and an MBA from the Symbiosis Institute of Business Management. His leadership is expected to drive Hinduja Renewables’ mission of accelerating India’s transition towards sustainable energy solutions.
