Pune: Pune Vidyarthi Griha’s College of Engineering, Technology and Management (PVG College of Engineering), a distinguished institution in Pune, has officially been conferred with autonomous status, effective from the academic year 2025–26.
This move is set to significantly enhance the institution’s flexibility in curriculum development, academic planning, and industry-aligned innovation.
A pivotal Academic Council meeting was recently held to operationalize this transition. The session was led by the college’s Director Sunil Redekar and Principal Dr Manoj Tarambale, with participation from senior faculty, department heads, the Dean of Academics, Dean of the Industry-Institute Cell, Controller of Examinations, and members of the Board of Studies.
Several noted academic and industry experts were present as invitees, including Dr Mukul Sutawane (Director, IIIT Prayagraj), Dr Vikram Gadre (Professor, IIT Bombay), Dr Aditya Abhyankar (Head, DST at SPPU), Dr Anupama Kumbhar, Dr Gurudas Nulkar (Gokhale Institute), and Dr Ameya Pangarkar (AI marketing strategist and international trainer).

The Council formally approved the new curriculum for First-Year Engineering and Management, along with postgraduate programs in Electrical and Printing Engineering. Academic and examination regulations tailored to autonomous governance were also sanctioned.

Speaking on the occasion, Director Redekar stated that this marks a transformative step in PVG College of Engineering’s journey, empowering it to offer more industry-relevant, innovation-driven education.
The academic autonomy will also enable the institution to better respond to emerging technological trends and improve overall educational outcomes.
