Honeywell Acquires Li-ion Tamer Business from Nexceris

Li-ion Tamer

Pune: Honeywell (NASDAQ: HON) has announced the acquisition of the Li-ion Tamer business from Nexceris.

This acquisition brings advanced early detection technology for lithium-ion battery fires into Honeywell’s Building Automation segment, supporting growing safety needs across energy storage, EV infrastructure, and data center industries.

Li-ion Tamer’s proprietary off-gas detection solutions identify early signs of thermal runaway, a critical hazard in li-ion battery systems.

With a proven ability to detect off-gassing up to 30 minutes before a fire, the system offers a vital safety advantage – allowing proactive measures before an incident occurs. The technology is widely deployed by battery OEMs worldwide and protected by a portfolio of over 30 global patents.

Li-ion Tamer: Meeting the Growing Demand for Battery Safety

With lithium-ion battery demand projected to grow 30% annually and surpass $400 billion by 2030, Honeywell’s acquisition of Li-ion Tamer positions the company at the forefront of battery safety innovation.

“As lithium-ion battery use accelerates in mission-critical sectors like data centers, grid-scale energy storage, and EV charging, the risk of fire grows in parallel,” said Billal Hammoud, President and CEO of Honeywell Building Automation.

“Li-ion Tamer’s early warning detection has been a game-changer for our partners. Integrating this technology into our fire life safety suite will enable us to lead in battery fire prevention.”

Enhancing Honeywell’s Fire Detection Ecosystem

The integration of Li-ion Tamer complements Honeywell’s existing fire and life safety solutions, including VESDA – a high-sensitivity smoke detection system – and Connected Life Safety Services, powered by the Honeywell Forge IoT platform.

Together, these technologies deliver intelligent, data-driven safety management and compliance tools for modern buildings.

This acquisition is the latest in a series of strategic steps by Honeywell to simplify its portfolio and accelerate growth.

Since December 2023, Honeywell has completed or announced $13.5 billion in accretive acquisitions, including Access Solutions (Carrier Global), Civitanavi Systems, CAES Systems, and more. It also finalized the divestment of its Personal Protective Equipment business in June 2025.

The addition of the Li-ion Tamer business further solidifies Honeywell’s role as an industry leader in fire detection, battery safety, and smart building automation.
