Pune: A liver transplant procedure at Sahyadri Hospital has resulted in the deaths of a husband and wife, sparking allegations of medical negligence from the family.

The incident involved Bapu Balakrishna Komkar (49), who required a liver transplant, and his wife Kamini Komkar (42), who volunteered as the donor. The surgery was conducted on August 15 at Sahyadri Hospital’s Deccan facility.

Bapu passed away on the same day, while Kamini died on August 22, a week after the surgery. Relatives allege that despite Kamini being healthy, her sudden death indicates negligence by doctors. Her brother, Balraj Wadekar, has confirmed that the family will lodge a police complaint after receiving the autopsy reports.
