Ahmedabad: ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) and the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIM Ahmedabad) have announced a Case Writing Workshop in Finance & Accounting as part of a collaborative academic initiative aimed at strengthening research-led case development and industry–academia engagement.
The initiative invites extended abstracts for a Case Writing Competition focused on finance, accounting, sustainability, governance, ethics, AI-led transformation, innovation, and strategic leadership.
Case Writing Workshop to Advance Research-Driven Teaching Cases
As part of the initiative, ACCA and IIM Ahmedabad have opened a Call for Extended Abstracts for the Case Writing Workshop in Finance & Accounting.
The programme invites original case proposals rooted in real-world business challenges. Selected participants will be invited to an intensive, in-person workshop hosted at IIM Ahmedabad, where they will receive structured mentoring from experienced faculty members and case-writing experts.

The workshop is designed for doctoral candidates, post-doctoral researchers, and early-career faculty members (post-PhD, with up to 10 years of experience) from leading academic institutions.
It aims to provide a structured platform for developing, refining, and publishing high-impact teaching cases, while offering opportunities for academic recognition and potential publication.
Anchored in ACCA’s Think Ahead philosophy, the initiative reinforces the organisation’s commitment to research-driven and experiential learning.
The competition seeks to encourage the development of original teaching cases that enhance academic pedagogy and equip future-ready finance professionals to navigate increasingly complex and technology-driven business environments.
Commenting on the collaboration, Mohammed Sajid Khan, Director – India, ACCA, said the initiative reflects a shared commitment to strengthening the link between academic theory and real-world decision-making.
He highlighted the role of well-crafted business cases in sharpening contextual thinking, judgment, and practical application of knowledge among students.
Neerav Nagar, Associate Professor at IIM Ahmedabad, noted that the workshop encourages researchers to transform real-world finance and accounting challenges into practice-oriented teaching cases.
He added that mentorship and collaborative learning will help authors refine their ideas and contribute meaningfully to classroom learning and academic discourse.

Select cases developed through the programme may be considered for publication in a special issue of Vikalpa: The Journal for Decision Makers, IIM Ahmedabad’s flagship academic journal. Financial awards will also be presented for outstanding submissions.
Through this Case Writing Workshop, ACCA and IIM Ahmedabad aim to strengthen case-based teaching, foster impactful research outcomes, and contribute to evolving discussions on finance, governance, sustainability, and technology-led transformation in business education.
