Piaggio Ape WavE

Pune: Ape WavE, the latest electric passenger three-wheeler from Piaggio Vehicles Pvt. Ltd., has been launched to strengthen the company’s electric mobility portfolio in India.

Developed for the affordable L3 passenger EV segment, Ape WavE aims to combine low ownership costs with enhanced comfort, safety, reliability, and operational efficiency for urban and semi-urban transportation.

Piaggio Vehicles Pvt. Ltd., the wholly owned Indian subsidiary of the Piaggio Group, said Ape WavE has been engineered to cater to the rapidly expanding affordable passenger electric vehicle market while delivering features generally associated with premium L5 mobility solutions.

Built on the company’s experience in electric three-wheelers, Ape WavE has been designed to offer accessible ownership alongside improved driving confidence and passenger comfort.

The vehicle has been specifically developed for shared mobility services, fixed-route transportation, and short-distance passenger applications where affordability, operational efficiency, and earning potential remain key priorities.

The launch marks another milestone in Piaggio’s electric mobility journey in India. The company introduced the Apé E-City swappable model before expanding its portfolio with the Apé E-City FX, Apé E-City Maxx, and Apé E-City Ultra.

With Ape WavE, the company continues its focus on offering practical and sustainable mobility solutions tailored to Indian operating conditions.

Diego Graffi, Chairman & MD, Piaggio Vehicles Pvt. Ltd., said: “India’s electric mobility landscape is evolving rapidly, particularly in the passenger three-wheeler category where customers are looking for dependable and economically viable solutions.

With the Apé WavE, we are introducing a product that has been developed specifically to meet the needs of drivers seeking affordable ownership along with superior comfort, safety, and operational reliability.

The vehicle reflects our understanding of Indian mobility requirements and reinforces our commitment towards sustainable transportation and livelihood generation across the country.”

According to the company, Ape WavE has been developed to bridge the gap between affordable acquisition costs and a premium passenger experience. The electric three-wheeler combines a monocoque chassis, full-metal body construction, passenger-focused suspension, and reduced noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) levels to enhance ride quality and long-term durability.

Amit Sagar, Executive Vice President – CV Domestic Business and Retail Finance, Piaggio Vehicles Pvt. Ltd., said: “The passenger EV segment continues to witness strong demand, particularly in markets where shared mobility and short-distance transportation play an important role in daily commuting.

The Apé WavE has been designed to offer customers an ideal balance between acquisition cost, operational savings, and passenger experience. With robust build quality, low maintenance requirements, strong ride comfort, and trusted Apé reliability, the vehicle is expected to create a strong value proposition for drivers and fleet operators alike.”
