Despite age-related risks, heart and lung function tests showed he was fit for surgery, offering a chance for curative treatment.

The cancer had affected three ribs, making wide excision and reconstruction essential. The multidisciplinary team at Wockhardt Hospitals, led by Dr Tanveer Majeed (Consultant Surgical Oncologist), supported by Dr Akshay Deshpande (Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeon) and Dr Shilpa Deshmukh (Onco Anaesthesiologist), performed a challenging procedure. The chest wall was reconstructed using proline mesh and a muscle flap from the back.
The patient was ventilated for two days post-surgery as a precaution but recovered faster than expected. On the ninth day, he was discharged, walking out of the hospital stable and smiling.
