Pune: In a strategic move to improve accessibility to advanced ophthalmic services, PBMA’s H V Desai Eye Hospital has inaugurated a new satellite eye care centre in Kalyani Nagar, located next to the metro station.
The launch is part of the hospital’s larger mission to offer world-class, affordable eye care services to underserved regions across Pune.

Backed by Desai Brothers, the newly launched centre was inaugurated in the presence of Nitin Desai, Chairman of the Poona Blind Men’s Association (PBMA); Rajesh Shah, President, PBMA; Parvez Billimoria, Executive Director, H V Desai Eye Hospital; Medical Directors Dr Kuldeep Dole and Dr Sucheta Kulkarni; and Chief Operating Officer Dr Sushila Kawade Bhosale, among others.
The Kalyani Nagar facility is equipped with state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment, a dedicated spectacle and lenses unit, and will soon feature a modern operation theatre to conduct advanced surgical procedures.
The centre will especially benefit patients residing in the northeastern suburbs of Pune by offering them access to specialised ophthalmic care without the need to travel long distances.
H V Desai Eye Hospital: Robust Network of 46 Vision Centres
With this addition, H V Desai Eye Hospital now operates two satellite centres – the other in Nandurbar – and a robust network of 46 Vision Centres that serve as primary eye care units across Maharashtra.

Speaking at the launch, Parvez Billimoria stated, “This new satellite centre builds on our long-standing legacy of providing cutting-edge eye care. With expert doctors and advanced technology, we are proud to make such care more accessible to every corner of society.”
Nitin Desai added, “Our goal is to ensure that no one is left behind when it comes to eye care. This new centre will benefit the communities in and around Kalyani Nagar and sets the foundation for expanding similar centres across Pune.”
The hospital also revealed plans to open another state-of-the-art eye care unit in Solapur, aimed at catering to the surrounding districts. This continued expansion reaffirms H V Desai Eye Hospital’s role as a leader in ophthalmic excellence, research, and outreach.
