CitiusTech CSR initiative at Cama & Albless Hospital in Mumbai

Mumbai: CitiusTech, a prominent provider of healthcare technology and services, has partnered with the Government of Maharashtra to inaugurate a state-of-the-art Urogynecology Department at the Cama & Albless Hospital in Mumbai.

This transformative initiative, part of CitiusTech’s CSR program in collaboration with ARMMAN and Dr Aparna Hegde, aims to expand equitable access to specialized pelvic floor care for women in India.

The newly renovated department sets a national benchmark in women’s public healthcare by offering world-class diagnostic and therapeutic services in urogynecology.

A significant milestone, this facility will also serve as a hub for advanced clinical training, having received fellowship accreditation from the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS).

CitiusTech: Elevating Women’s Health with Technology and Compassion

“One in three Indian women suffer from urogynecological issues, often in silence,” said Punam Shejale, Chief Information Security Officer and Head of CSR & Sustainability at CitiusTech. “This initiative blends clinical vision with CitiusTech’s healthcare expertise to create an inclusive, high-quality care environment for women from all socioeconomic backgrounds.”

World-Class Facilities at the Heart of Mumbai

Spanning two floors, the facility comprises six dedicated clinic rooms on the ground floor and a fully equipped diagnostic center on the first floor. The center features some of the most advanced urogynecology technologies available in India, including:

  • Video-Urodynamics
  • Bluetooth-enabled Uroflowmetry
  • 2D/3D Pelvic Floor Ultrasound
  • Endoanal Ultrasound
  • Anorectal Manometry
  • Fluoroscopic Defecography
  • Laser Treatment Units
  • Urostym Pelvic Floor Therapy System
  • Office Cystoscopy

The infrastructure is designed with privacy, empathy, and clinical excellence in mind.

Visionary Leadership and Long-Term Impact

“This center is not just about treatment – it’s about transformation,” said Dr Aparna Hegde, Associate Professor (Hon.), Cama & Albless Hospital and Founder of ARMMAN. “We aim to redefine pelvic health care in India through research, training, and clinical excellence, empowering the next generation of urogynecologists.”

Dr Tushar Palve, Vice Dean of Government Medical College and Medical Superintendent of the hospital, added, “We are deeply thankful to CitiusTech for partnering with us to serve the most underserved sections of society. This is a model we hope others will emulate.”

CitiusTech also contributed design, procurement, and project execution support, reinforcing its commitment to building sustainable healthcare infrastructure. “This project showcases how technology, compassion, and collaboration can reshape public health,” said Manoj Balwani, Head of Admin, Procurement, Immigration and Travel at CitiusTech.

A Scalable Public-Private Model for Women’s Healthcare

Conceptualized by Dr Hegde and formalized through a 2018 MoU with the Department of Medical Education, Government of Maharashtra, the project received final approval in 2023. It targets conditions such as pelvic organ prolapse, urinary and fecal incontinence, perineal trauma, UTIs, and bladder pain syndrome—conditions that affect nearly 25% of Indian women but often go undiagnosed or untreated.

By combining medical innovation, academic rigor, and corporate commitment, the CitiusTech-backed Urogynecology Department at Cama & Albless Hospital represents a replicable model for improving women’s healthcare access across India.
