Pune: Artificial Intelligence is no longer the future – it’s the present and the catalyst reshaping the accounting profession. That was the key message delivered by CA Charanjot Singh Nanda, President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), at the AI Innovation Summit 2025, held in Pune under the theme “Transforming Accounting, Audit, Tax and Governance.”
The two-day national summit, hosted at Bantara Bhavan, Baner, saw participation from over 1,000 Chartered Accountants, students, and tech policy experts, underlining ICAI’s commitment to preparing the accounting fraternity for the digital era.

AI Integration in CA Curriculum and Training
CA Nanda announced that AI will be formally introduced in the Chartered Accountancy curriculum starting 2027, with over 25,000 CAs already trained through 500+ sessions. The initiative is part of ICAI’s broader digital transformation strategy aimed at empowering CAs with AI, Machine Learning, and data analytics.
“AI is the future. Chartered Accountants must not only understand it, but master it,” said CA Nanda. “With India’s ₹20,000 crore investment in research and innovation, the profession has a unique opportunity to lead.”
AI Innovation Summit 2025: AI Will Create 1.25 Crore Jobs
CA Prasanna Kumar D, Vice President of ICAI, stressed that AI will generate over 1.25 crore new jobs, especially for those who adapt and upskill. “The profession is evolving, and fear of technology must be replaced with enthusiasm for innovation,” he added.
Chairman of ICAI’s AI Committee, CA Umesh Sharma, stated that 4.5–5 lakh CAs are expected to complete ICAI’s AI modules in the coming months, further accelerating India’s accounting digitalization journey.

Global Perspectives and Vision for Viksit Bharat
AI Innovation Summit 2025 Keynotes by Dr Deepak Shikarpur, IT visionary, and Pragya Mishra, Head of Public Policy & Partnerships at OpenAI Source, offered global insights on how AI is transforming governance, compliance, and finance across markets.
“As India moves toward its Viksit Bharat goals, CAs have a central role in enabling transparent, tech-driven financial ecosystems,” said CA Madhu Lunawat, echoing ICAI’s vision.
The AI Innovation Summit 2025 was organized by ICAI Pune Branch, led by Chairman CA Sachin Miniyar, and supported by Central Council Member CA Chandrashekhar Chitale, along with Regional and Branch members.
