Mumbai: In a powerful display of youth innovation and commitment to sustainability, the UST SIGHT Competition 2.0 (Sustainable Innovations for Growth and Human Transformation), drew participation from over 1,000 student teams across 300+ professional colleges in India.
Hosted at UST’s Thiruvananthapuram campus, the annual technical expo reaffirmed UST’s mission to foster transformative, future-ready talent in the technology sector.
At the grand finale, Team Oillovators from the Institute of Engineering and Management (IEM), Kolkata clinched the first prize, winning ₹50,000 in cash, along with certificates and mementos.
Team Seakers from Dr Ambedkar Institute of Technology, Bengaluru took home the second prize worth ₹25,000, while Team Neo Sustain from R M K Engineering College, Tamil Nadu secured the third position, receiving ₹10,000.
The awards were presented by Sheffi Anwar, General Manager – Business Operations & Workplace Management at UST, in the presence of enthusiastic participants, mentors, and UST leadership.
Organized by COLOR GOLD, a team under UST’s globally recognized employee engagement program COLORS, the UST SIGHT Competition aims to harness the technical brilliance and creative thinking of final-year students to tackle real-world problems through sustainable innovation.
“It was incredibly inspiring to witness the surge of innovation from students across the country,” said Sunil Balakrishnan, Chief Values Officer and Global Head of Center Operations at UST.
“SIGHT 2.0 has not just scaled in size but also in impact – evident in the quality of submissions and the commitment to developing transformative ideas. I congratulate all participating teams, especially the winners who demonstrated extraordinary innovation and potential.”
UST SIGHT Competition Evolves into National Platform
The competition unfolded in multiple phases – from 1,000+ initial project abstracts, the top 500 entries were shortlisted, followed by 280 semi-finalists. Fourteen exceptional teams made it to the grand finale after a rigorous evaluation of their technical acumen and alignment with sustainability goals.
Beyond being a contest, the UST SIGHT Competition has evolved into a national platform that empowers students to develop solutions for pressing global challenges – ranging from environmental sustainability to inclusive technology.
“SIGHT 2.0 offered us a rare opportunity to innovate with purpose,” shared one of the student participants. “It wasn’t just about winning, but about creating impact.”
With each edition, the UST SIGHT Competition continues to set a new benchmark in talent engagement and innovation-led transformation, reinforcing UST’s leadership in building a socially conscious and future-ready workforce.
