New Delhi: The Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPR&D), under the Ministry of Home Affairs, has launched a National Hackathon on CCTV Solutions for Law Enforcement, in partnership with the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) and CyberPeace Foundation.

This initiative is aimed at fostering home-grown, secure, and scalable CCTV technologies to support the evolving operational demands of Indian law enforcement agencies (LEAs).

The hackathon encourages participation from start-ups, innovators, academic institutions, and research bodies to develop next-gen surveillance solutions that strengthen India’s internal security framework.

It is part of the Government’s broader vision for a Cyber-Secure Bharat, championed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

“Through this Hackathon on CCTV Solutions for Law Enforcement, BPR&D is championing indigenous tech development to improve transparency, accountability, and operational efficiency in policing,” said a BPR&D official.

Key Focus Areas of the Hackathon on CCTV Solutions for Law Enforcement:
    • Development of secure and indigenous CCTV hardware and software systems
    • Integration of Artificial Intelligence and smart video analytics
    • Strengthening cybersecurity across CCTV infrastructure
    • Designing cost-effective and high-efficiency surveillance solutions

The curtain raiser event was held on May 9, 2025, with participation from senior officials including the Director General of BPR&D, Director of NCRB, Additional Director General (BPR&D), and Inspector General (Modernization).

The grand finale of the hackathon will take place in the last week of June 2025, where the most promising entries will be rewarded:

    • 1st Prize: ₹5 Lakh
    • 2nd Prize: ₹3 Lakh
    • 3rd Prize: ₹1 Lakh
    • Five Consolation Prizes for exceptional innovations
