Mahindra Nagpur manufacturing facility

Nagpur: Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. is moving towards taking possession of the first package of approximately 800 acres for the Mahindra Nagpur manufacturing facility, a large integrated automobile and tractor manufacturing project at Additional Butibori in Nagpur, Maharashtra.

Announced earlier this year, the Mahindra Nagpur Manufacturing Facility will be developed across 1,500 acres in Vidarbha. The project will also be complemented by a 150-acre supplier park in Sambhajinagar.

Once fully operational, the Mahindra Nagpur manufacturing facility will have an annual production capacity of more than 5 lakh vehicles and 1 lakh tractors, making it Mahindra’s largest integrated manufacturing facility in India.

The supplier park in Sambhajinagar will supply components to the new Mahindra Nagpur Manufacturing Facility, as well as to Mahindra’s existing manufacturing facilities at Chakan and Nashik.

Mahindra Nagpur Manufacturing Facility to Focus on Skilling and Jobs

Alongside the development of the Mahindra Nagpur Manufacturing Facility, Mahindra is also working to build the people capabilities and skills required to support the project.

The company’s efforts will include processes to identify, develop and skill talent for manufacturing automobiles and tractors across multiple powertrains and future technologies.

Mahindra will also look to draw on the experience and expertise of associates who have been part of its existing manufacturing operations.

Over the next two to three years, these skilled and experienced associates will have an opportunity to participate in a detailed selection process for roles at the new facility.

The selection process for the Mahindra Nagpur manufacturing facility will consider technical capability, demonstrated behaviours, alignment with Mahindra’s values and the ability to collaborate effectively.

The skilling initiatives are expected to support the workforce requirements of the Mahindra Nagpur manufacturing facility as the project progresses.

Further details regarding workforce requirements, employment opportunities and associated processes will be communicated as the project progresses.

The Mahindra Nagpur manufacturing facility is being developed as a greenfield project across 1,500 acres in Vidarbha, with the planned supplier park in Sambhajinagar forming part of the broader manufacturing ecosystem.
