New Delhi: A workshop on defence procurement aimed at enhancing awareness and encouraging greater participation of MSMEs and start-ups in India’s defence ecosystem will be held at Manekshaw Centre, Delhi Cantt, on June 11 and 12, 2026.
The event, titled “Workshop on Defence Procurement, Innovations for Defence Excellence (iDEX), Technology Perspective Capability Roadmap (TPCR) and Testing Procedures for MSMEs & Start-ups”, is being jointly organised by the Indigenisation Directorate, Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff (HQ IDS) and the Centre for Joint Warfare Studies (CENJOWS).
The workshop on defence procurement is designed to provide an interactive platform where industry representatives can gain comprehensive insights into defence procurement procedures, indigenisation initiatives, the iDEX framework, testing and certification processes, and the Technology Perspective Capability Roadmap (TPCR).
Senior officers and experts from HQ IDS, Service Headquarters, DGQA, iDEX-DIO and other stakeholder organisations will engage with participants through various technical and interactive sessions.
The inaugural session of the workshop on defence procurement will feature addresses by Deputy Chief of Integrated Defence Staff (Policy Planning & Force Development) Air Marshal Praveen Keshav Vohra and Director General, CENJOWS, Maj Gen (Dr) Ashok Kumar (Retd).
Sessions on the first day will focus on the Defence Acquisition Procedure, procurement categories, revenue procurement parameters, indigenisation reforms, the SRIJAN portal, import substitution mapping and intellectual property rights.
The discussions are intended to familiarise MSMEs and start-ups with key aspects of defence procurement and opportunities available within the sector.
On the second day, the workshop on defence procurement will highlight iDEX initiatives, prototype development, testing and evaluation procedures, certification systems, user trials, environmental testing, DRDO’s role in research and development, and technology readiness levels. A dedicated session on the Technology Perspective Capability Roadmap (TPCR) and a panel discussion involving venture capitalists are also scheduled as part of the programme.
The organisers have structured the workshop on defence procurement to address practical challenges faced by industry participants through interactive discussions and dedicated question-and-answer sessions.
The initiative is expected to strengthen ongoing efforts towards Aatmanirbharta in defence manufacturing while promoting closer collaboration between the Defence Forces and the Indian industry.
By bringing together policymakers, defence experts, industry representatives and innovation stakeholders, the event seeks to improve understanding of procurement mechanisms and create greater opportunities for MSMEs and start-ups to contribute to India’s evolving defence ecosystem.
