Pune: SWITCH Mobility, a global manufacturer of electric buses and light commercial vehicles and part of the Hinduja Group, has flagged off the first batch of 10 units of its EiV12mt intercity electric coaches for Prasanna Purple Mobility Solutions (Purple Bus).
The launch took place in the presence of Hon’ble Minister Madhuri Misal, Minister of State, Government of Maharashtra.
This deployment marks SWITCH Mobility’s first private-sector rollout of intercity electric coaches, while also enabling Prasanna Purple Mobility Solutions to enter the intercity electric mobility segment. In a strategic partnership with Vertelo, these intercity electric coaches will operate on the Mumbai–Pune route – one of India’s busiest travel corridors.
The total order includes 25 electric buses, with the remaining units scheduled for delivery over the course of the year. The initiative signals a strong shift towards mainstream adoption of intercity electric coaches, as operators increasingly transition to sustainable and efficient transport solutions.

SWITCH EiV12mt Platform Powering Intercity Electric Coaches: Designed for Long-Distance Travel
Each coach is equipped with 45 pushback seats, offers a range of over 300 km per charge, and supports fast-charging capabilities, enabling seamless operations on long-haul routes.
These intercity electric coaches also feature advanced safety systems, a quiet ride experience, and SWITCH iON connected technology for real-time monitoring, ensuring a reliable and comfortable journey.
