Roche Pharma India Strengthens Biopharma Talent Pipeline with NIPER Raebareli Partnership

New Delhi: Roche Pharma India has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER) Raebareli to strengthen academic–industry collaboration and enhance pharmaceutical education and research capabilities in India.

The agreement marks a strategic step by Roche Pharma India toward bridging the gap between academia and industry.

The MoU between Roche Pharma India and NIPER Raebareli was signed at the Department of Pharmaceuticals (DoP) in the presence of Shri Manoj Joshi, IAS, Secretary, DoP.

Also present at the event were Shri Awadesh Kumar Choudhary, Senior Economic Advisor, DoP, and Ms. Anugraha P, Director, DoP.

Under this collaboration, Roche Pharma India and NIPER Raebareli will jointly work to bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world pharmaceutical industry practices.

The partnership aims to equip students and faculty with insights into evolving pharmaceutical and regulatory landscapes, reinforcing Roche Pharma India’s commitment to capability building in India’s healthcare ecosystem.

Roche Pharma India – NIPER Raebareli MoU: Several Initiatives Planned

These include a certificate program in regulatory affairs for students and industry professionals, a guest lecture series by industry experts on emerging trends such as AI in pharmaceutical research, drug development, and healthcare innovation, scholarship-cum-industry exposure opportunities through Roche’s LEAP program, and faculty immersion programs.

These initiatives underscore how Roche Pharma India is contributing to future-ready pharmaceutical education.

Speaking on the occasion, Manoj Joshi, Secretary, DoP, highlighted that, “India needs to develop urgent capabilities in regulatory sciences, biologics and AI in Pharma for developing sustained global competitive advantage and assert its global position. Collaborations like these between academia and industry are critical to meet those aspirations.”

Officials present at the event emphasized that such collaborations involving Roche Pharma India play a critical role in strengthening India’s position as a global hub for biopharmaceutical innovation.

The initiative is expected to help build a skilled workforce and encourage research in advanced pharmaceutical technologies, thereby contributing to a resilient healthcare system.

Earlier in February 2026, Roche Pharma India had signed a similar MoU with NIPER Mohali. This partnership focused on curriculum design and development, student mentorship, setting up professors of practice, scholarship-cum-industry exposure opportunities through Roche’s LEAP program, and delivery of industry-relevant short-term courses to enhance industry readiness.

Through these MoUs, Roche Pharma India and the two NIPER institutes aim to create a collaborative industry-academia ecosystem that nurtures talent, drives innovation, and supports the development of future-ready professionals for India’s rapidly evolving biopharmaceutical sector.
