Amaravati: The Real Time Governance Society of the Andhra Pradesh Government received appreciation from Bill Gates, Chairman of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, during his visit to the state.
The Global technology leader visited the Real Time Governance Society (RTGS) Centre at the Andhra Pradesh Secretariat and lauded the state’s use of technology in delivering civic services, healthcare, and agricultural support.
During his hour-long visit to the Real Time Governance Society centre, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu gave a detailed presentation on the functioning of the Real Time Governance Society in rendering civic services through advanced technological interventions.
The presentation covered the data lake architecture, AWARE 2.0 platform, WhatsApp governance, the Sanjeevani health project, and the development of Amaravati as the state capital.

Real Time Governance Society: Bill Gates Seeks Further Details on Several Initiatives
Bill Gates evinced keen interest in the operations of the Real Time Governance Society and sought further details on several initiatives.
When the Chief Minister explained how the Real Time Governance Society collects public satisfaction levels on government services, Bill Gates appreciated the system. He also enquired about the measures being taken to protect citizens’ land records.
Responding to the query, the Chief Minister stated that the government is leveraging blockchain technology and QR codes to prevent tampering of land records under the Real Time Governance Society framework. Bill Gates appreciated the steps taken to ensure transparency and security in governance.
Bill Gates further enquired about the implementation of the Sanjeevani health project in Kuppam constituency, which is being implemented with the support of the Gates Foundation.
When the Chief Minister explained that the state government is maintaining the health records of all citizens using Artificial Intelligence through the Real Time Governance Society ecosystem, Bill Gates appreciated the efforts and opined that diagnostic services should be made available to the poor at low cost.
During the interaction, Bill Gates also enquired about the development of Amaravati. The Chief Minister said Amaravati would be developed as a green and blue city, integrating sustainability with technological advancement under the broader governance vision linked to the Real Time Governance Society initiatives.
In a separate meeting with ministers and senior officials, the Chief Minister stated that the visit of Bill Gates to Andhra Pradesh would pave the way for further digital transformation in the state.
Recollecting his first meeting with Bill Gates in 1997 as the Chief Minister of united Andhra Pradesh, he said he had then convinced him to set up Microsoft in Hyderabad, which subsequently led to rapid growth of the IT sector in the city.
The Chief Minister stated that Andhra Pradesh has abundant natural resources and that the government is now focusing on wealth creation.
He said that the Swarnandhra Vision 2047 would become a reality with the cooperation of the Gates Foundation and continued strengthening of the Real Time Governance Society framework.

During the interaction, Bill Gates appreciated the vision of Chandrababu Naidu and said that the Chief Minister is ahead in thinking among global leaders.
He said India is ahead in the digital revolution and that both the Prime Minister and the Chief Minister are playing a key role in driving digital transformation.
Bill Gates said that the Gates Foundation gives priority to the health sector and has taken up a majority of its projects in healthcare.
He stressed the need to render health services to all sections of society and appreciated the Sanjeevani health project being implemented in Kuppam with the support of the Foundation.
He further stated that Artificial Intelligence would be more useful in bringing reforms to the education sector. He appreciated the efforts of the Andhra Pradesh Government in introducing technology in the agricultural sector for the benefit of farmers under the Real Time Governance Society initiatives.
He observed that even in developed countries, technology is not widely used in agriculture, whereas Andhra Pradesh is ahead in leveraging technology for agricultural development.
Bill Gates also praised the disaster management services that use technology to prevent loss of life and property during natural calamities, noting that the Real Time Governance Society model reflects proactive governance.
Recollecting his long-standing association with Chandrababu Naidu, Bill Gates described him as a good old friend. He said that while he has been explaining digital governance to the world, Chandrababu Naidu has been implementing it.
Replying to a question from ministers, Bill Gates said that as Chandrababu Naidu promoted IT, a majority of IT experts emerged from Hyderabad, and Microsoft has a significant number of experts from the Telugu states.
