Pune: ASSICON 2026, the 39th annual conference of the Association of Spine Surgeons of India (ASSI), will be hosted in Pune from January 22 to 25, 2026, at the JW Marriott Hotel.
Organised by the Pune Association of Spine Surgeons (PASS), the landmark event is expected to witness participation from over 1,200 spine surgeons from India and abroad, making it one of the largest spine-focused medical conferences in the country.
Dr Shailesh Hadgaonkar, Secretary of the Organising Committee of ASSICON 2026 and Head of the Spine and Neuroscience Unit at Sancheti Hospital, Pune, stated that the conference will mark a significant milestone for spine care in India.

For the first time, five prestigious international spine societies – including the American Scoliosis Research Society, British Association of Spine Surgeons (BASS), Korean Minimally Invasive Spine Society (KOMISS), Singapore Spine Society, and AO Spine, a global academic community for spine care – will participate together at an Indian platform.
Delegates from neighbouring countries such as Nepal and Sri Lanka are also expected to attend.
Dr Rajesh Parasnis, Chairman of the Organising Committee, said the conference will feature an extensive academic programme, bringing together leading national and international experts.
ASSICON 2026 to Bring Global Spine Surgery Experts Under One Roof
ASSICON 2026 will host scientific deliberations on a wide range of spine-related conditions, including deformities, along with contemporary diagnostic techniques and treatment modalities. The event will also include research paper competitions, quizzes, TED-style talks, and keynote addresses.
Dr Pradyumna Pai Raiturkar, Treasurer of the Pune Association of Spine Surgeons, noted that discussions will focus on increasingly prevalent spinal conditions such as neck pain, lower back pain, spinal deformities including scoliosis, revision spine surgeries, osteoporosis, and paediatric spine disorders, among others.

Dr S K Shrivastav, President of the Association of Spine Surgeons of India, highlighted that the conference will also emphasise non-surgical and conservative management of spinal conditions.
Dr Appaji Krishnan, Secretary of ASSI, added that ASSICON 2026 will showcase advanced spine treatment protocols, including the latest developments in robotic spine surgery, navigation-based procedures, and endoscopic spine surgeries.
Dr Hadgaonkar further mentioned that various ASSI study groups, led by renowned experts, will conduct focused sessions aimed at helping young spine surgeons understand evolving clinical protocols while gaining insights from experienced practitioners.
