NITI Aayog’s 2nd Regional Dialogue on State Support Mission Concludes in Pune

Pune: NITI Aayog, in collaboration with the Maharashtra Institution for Transformation (MITRA), successfully concluded the 2nd Regional Dialogue on the State Support Mission (SSM) at YASHADA in Pune.

The event brought together senior officials from 11 Western and Southern States and Union Territories to exchange best practices and share experiences in advancing State Support Mission initiatives. It followed the first regional dialogue held earlier this year in Dehradun, which engaged Northern States and UTs.

Strengthening State Institutions for Transformation Under State Support Mission

The dialogue emphasized the pivotal role of State Institutions for Transformation (SITs) in guiding state visions, driving reforms, and aligning strategies with the national goal of Viksit Bharat @2047.

The inaugural session featured Dr Arvind Virmani, Member of NITI Aayog; Praveen Pardeshi, CEO of MITRA; Rohit Kumar, Additional Secretary, NITI Aayog; and other senior officers.

Sessions highlighted the importance of SITs as multi-disciplinary hubs for evidence-based policymaking, long-term visioning, and future-ready governance.

Focus on Good Governance and Frontier Technologies

Deliberations included the “4Ds of Good Governance – Data to Decision, Decision to Development”, showcasing how states can transform data into actionable insights. Experts from DMEO, MoSPI, BISAG-N, and RBI shared digital governance innovations, geospatial applications such as PM Gati Shakti, and applications of AI and ML tools.

Further sessions explored Harnessing Frontier Technologies for Viksit Bharat @2047, with discussions on AI, data centers, and tech-driven innovation. The launch of the Frontier Tech Policy Repository marked another highlight. Additionally, sessions on Growth Hubs emphasized positioning city regions as engines of prosperity.

Exhibition and Release of Compendium Under State Support Mission

The event also featured an exhibition showcasing governance platforms such as the NITI for States portal, Viksit Bharat Strategy Room, Meghalaya’s Mother Program, BISAG-N’s geospatial applications, Bhashini’s real-time translation tools, and the Experience in a Box device for data-driven governance in aspirational districts.

A special compendium of takeaways from over 50 State Support Mission workshops conducted across States and UTs over the past two years was released during the dialogue.

Consensus on SITs as Backbone of Governance Transformation

The dialogue concluded with a strong consensus that State Institutions for Transformation form the backbone of governance reform and play a crucial role in realizing India’s vision of Viksit Bharat @2047.
