New Delhi: The Army Hospital Research and Referral (AHRR) has become the first government institute in India and the second in South Asia to successfully perform Robotic Custom Laser Cataract Surgery using the cutting-edge ALLY Adaptive Cataract Treatment System.

This milestone positions AHRR’s Ophthalmology Department at the forefront of robotic, bladeless, and computer-guided eye surgeries.

Army Hospital Achieves Breakthrough with Robotic Custom Laser Cataract Surgery

The pioneering procedure was carried out by Brigadier SK Mishra on a 61-year-old patient, marking AHRR’s entry into advanced Femto-second Laser Assisted Cataract Surgery (FLACS).

Unlike conventional cataract surgeries, FLACS leverages femtosecond laser technology to automate crucial surgical steps such as corneal incisions, capsulotomy, and cataract fragmentation with micron-level precision.
