The Early Years: A Reluctant Yet Determined Start
Sanjana Suri’s career began not with certainty but with conviction. In 2016, she made an unconventional choice – opting for commerce over science, driven by a deep-seated aversion to mathematics and a natural inclination toward debate and negotiation. Though unaware of what a legal career entailed at the time, Sanjana’s analytical instincts and love for history steered her toward the field of law.
Without access to extensive career counselling or top-tier coaching, Sanjana Suri enrolled in Karnavati University, Gujarat. Far from home and unfamiliar with the territory, Sanjana faced significant health and environmental challenges. However, rather than retreating, she immersed herself in every opportunity available—completing ten internships, even during the COVID-19 lockdown, and gaining real-world legal exposure early in her academic career.
Entering the Legal Profession
Post her undergraduate degree, Sanjana Suri began freelancing for businesses, assisting with legal documentation. Realizing her aptitude in the domain, she decided to pursue an LLM in Criminal Law at Symbiosis Law School, Pune. It was a defining move, not only enriching her subject matter expertise but also exposing her to a competitive and dynamic academic environment.
As Sanjana Suri transitioned into professional practice, the challenges of the legal field became apparent—long hours, high-pressure litigation, and societal biases that made it especially difficult for young women in the profession. Amidst career setbacks and personal doubts, she found herself at a critical juncture. Rather than stepping away, she re-engaged with her purpose.

The turning point came when a client entrusted Sanjana Suri with drafting a legal notice—an opportunity that restored her confidence and validated her capabilities. Within days, the client recovered their dues, and Sanjana earned her first independent legal fee.
What began as a one-off assignment soon evolved into a steady stream of contracts, notices, NDAs, and consultations. Recognizing the growing demand and inspired by a desire to create impact on her own terms, she launched her own firm: Dhan Legal & Co.
Initially operating from home offices, cafes, and co-working spaces, Sanjana built the firm organically—client by client, case by case. Each challenge became a learning opportunity, and each milestone a stepping stone toward institutional credibility.
