Thiruvananthapuram: Dr Malini Abraham, an alumna of CSIR–National Institute for Interdisciplinary Science and Technology (CSIR–NIIST) and a recent PhD graduate of Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research (AcSIR), has been awarded the highly prestigious Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions Global Postdoctoral Fellowship.
The fellowship is regarded as one of the most competitive and globally recognised research grants funded by the European Union, marking a significant milestone in the academic journey of Dr Malini Abraham.
Dr Malini Abraham completed her Master’s degree in Physics before pursuing her doctoral research at CSIR–NIIST. Her PhD research focused on nanophosphors for intelligent and flexible lighting under a CEFIPRA-supported project.
The work of Dr Malini Abraham was guided by Dr. Subrata Das and Dr. Sushanta Kumar Sahoo, centering on advanced luminescent materials designed for next-generation lighting technologies.

Dr Malini Abraham to Undertake Postdoctoral Research with Dr Maria Tchernycheva
Under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Global Postdoctoral Fellowship, Dr Malini Abraham will undertake postdoctoral research with Dr. Maria Tchernycheva at the Centre de Nanosciences et de Nanotechnologies, France, a premier European research institute known for its work in nanophotonics and nanoelectronics.
The research by Dr Malini Abraham will focus on the fabrication of innovative nanowire-based micro-LEDs aimed at enabling next-generation high-efficiency, miniaturised photonic devices.
The project to be undertaken by Dr Malini is expected to contribute to advancements in advanced displays, optical communications, and wearable technologies.
Her selection for the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Global Postdoctoral Fellowship highlights her research excellence, innovation potential, and international mobility.
