Chennai: In a major boost for India’s homegrown defence and drone innovation ecosystem, Zuppa, a Chennai-based deep-tech startup specializing in cyber-secure autonomous drone systems, has raised ₹5 crore in strategic funding from Sangam Talks founder Rahul Devan.
This investment comes in the wake of a compelling Sangam Talks podcast episode featuring Zuppa Founder & Technical Director Venkatesh Sai, where both leaders discussed India’s urgent need for secure and indigenous defence technologies. Inspired by that dialogue, Devan’s investment reinforces company’s mission to provide India with advanced, cyber-resilient alternatives to foreign-origin drones.
The company is globally recognized as one of only seven companies—and the only one from India—to have developed a proprietary autopilot system based on its patented Disseminated Parallel Control Computing in Real Time (DPCC) architecture. This stack powers the company’s Ajeet Series, including the Ajeet Mini, India’s first indigenous kamikaze and micro-armed drone platform.
“India must future-proof its defence capabilities through homegrown, cyber-resilient technologies. Zuppa’s Ajeet Mini and NavGati autopilot stack represent that future,” said Rahul Devan, Founder of Sangam Talks.
As drone-led incursions along India’s western front continue, particularly by Pakistani operatives deploying Chinese DJI drones to smuggle arms and narcotics, Zuppa’s Ajeet Mini stands out as a direct, secure, and indigenous replacement. Validated by the Indian Army at multiple locations—including altitudes over 11,000 feet—the drone significantly strengthens India’s Atmanirbhar Bharat vision.
Zuppa Attracts Investor Confidence
Zuppa’s trajectory continues to attract investor confidence. The latest funding follows earlier strategic support from Garuda Aerospace, MapmyIndia, and now Four Pursuits, a fund backed by tech entrepreneurs. This backing underscores the confidence in Zuppa’s disruptive capabilities within India’s burgeoning drone and defence tech sector.
“Four Pursuits’ investment is part of our ongoing ₹10 crore bridge round, closing on May 31, 2025. The funds will be used to expand our channel partner network and scale the availability of the DJI-equivalent Ajeet Series,” said Venkatesh Sai, Founder & Technical Director, Zuppa.
“We’re encouraged by growing investor interest post-Operation Sindoor. However, alignment in technology understanding is crucial for us, given the rapid cycles in drone-based defence applications,” he added.
With a rising demand for secure aerial platforms and a growing list of military, commercial, and investor validations, Zuppa is fast emerging as a key player redefining India’s drone landscape—building in India, for India, and for the world.
