WaveX Incubation Centers: Seven New Hubs Launched for Media and AVGC-XR Startups

New Delhi: WaveX, the startup accelerator platform under the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting’s WAVES initiative, has announced the establishment of seven new WaveX incubation centers across India.

With this expansion, WaveX aims to strengthen support for startups in the Media, Entertainment, and AVGC-XR (Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, Comics, and Extended Reality) sectors.

WaveX Incubation Centers Across India

The newly announced WaveX incubation centers will be set up at leading institutions:

  • Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC), Delhi
  • IIMC, Jammu
  • IIMC, Dhenkanal (Odisha)
  • IIMC, Kottayam (Kerala)
  • IIMC, Amravati (Maharashtra)
  • Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune
  • Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute (SRFTI), Kolkata

These WaveX incubation centers join the existing flagship facility at the Indian Institute of Creative Technologies (IICT), Mumbai.

Advanced Facilities for Startups in Media and Gaming

Through IICT, FTII, SRFTI, and partner incubators, startups will gain access to advanced infrastructure for film production, gaming development, editing, and testing. Facilities at the flagship IICT include:

  • 8K Red Raptor Vista Vision camera
  • 4K HDR preview theatre with Dolby Atmos
  • High-performance Alienware workstations
  • Virtual production stage with LED walls
  • Photogrammetry systems
  • Professional sound and color-mix theatres
  • 4K HDR edit suites
  • VR testing kits and latest gaming consoles

These resources are designed to help startups create content at global standards in film, gaming, and immersive media.

Mentorship, Funding, and Global Opportunities

WaveX will provide structured mentorship, policy clinics, bootcamps, and advisory support from global leaders and industry experts. Startups will also receive industry and government connect, access to funding, sales and marketing mentorship, and opportunities to showcase at international events such as VivaTech (Paris) and Game Developers Conference (USA).

Partnerships and Media Ecosystem Access

WaveX is developing collaborations with IITs, T-Hub, and other incubators to expand learning opportunities. Startups will also gain access to media units under the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, including Doordarshan, All India Radio, PIB, Publications Division, and FTII, with potential priority in outsourced projects.

Number of Startups per Batch: 15 at each center
Monthly Fee: ₹8,500 + GST
Eligibility: Preference to startups in Media, Entertainment, and AVGC-XR sectors
