Mumbai: Global connectivity giant TP-Link, the world’s top-ranked Wi-Fi device provider, has announced major expansions in India, unveiling a dual strategy that includes launching its first incubation centre in Mumbai and a state-of-the-art Global Capability Centre (GCC) for R&D in Bengaluru.

As part of its India-first approach, the incubation centre – co-located with TP-Link’s new headquarters in Mumbai – was inaugurated by Mangal Prabhat Lodha, Maharashtra’s Minister for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship.

The centre will serve as a catalyst for innovation, offering budding technologists, students, and startups access to high-end facilities, training, and mentorship in cutting-edge connectivity technologies.

“This is a welcome initiative by TP-Link that supports research and entrepreneurship in India. I believe it will go a long way in shaping the future of Digital India,” said Lodha.

Simultaneously, the company is gearing up to operationalize a Bengaluru-based R&D GCC in the coming weeks. This centre will focus on firmware development, artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML) integration, and advanced networking technologies across the company’s consumer and enterprise product portfolio, including the Omada brand of enterprise solutions.

“Our new facilities mark a pivotal milestone in TP-Link’s India journey,” said Sanjay Sehgal, CEO and Managing Director of TP-Link India.

“The Bengaluru GCC will accelerate product innovation, while the Mumbai incubation centre will foster grassroots innovation and future-ready talent.”

In line with this expansion, the company plans to increase its workforce by 30% and add 20 new service centres over the next year, especially across underserved Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities. This move is set to elevate TP-Link India’s customer service coverage to one of the most extensive in the country.

Driving Innovation and Empowering the Next Generation

TP-Link’s 20,000 sq. ft. Mumbai facility, with seating for over 150, is more than just office space—it is a launchpad for aspiring innovators. The incubation hub will host partner training, hackathons, product demos, and workshops, acting as a gateway for deeper collaboration between academia, industry, and technology ecosystems.

“This is not just a centre – it’s a movement,” added Sehgal. “We’re inviting academic institutions, startups, and tech entrepreneurs to join us in building a dynamic, inclusive, and future-focused innovation ecosystem.”

With existing offices in 10 Indian cities and a growing suite of offerings in consumer and enterprise segments, the company continues to be at the forefront of smart connectivity. The company has consistently been ranked the No.1 provider of Wi-Fi devices by IDC and serves billions of users across over 170 countries.
