Pune: Tata Technologies, a global product engineering and digital services company, has announced the launch of WATTSync, a secure and scalable digital battery passport solution aimed at advancing sustainability and transparency across the entire battery lifecycle – from mining and production to mobility, reuse, and recycling.
WATTSync: A Digital Battery Passport for Traceability and Trust
WATTSync is designed to help original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), battery manufacturers, and recyclers build greater resilience in the fast-evolving mobility landscape.

The solution provides:
- End-to-end tracking of battery data from mining to recycling
- A live, shared view of materials, performance, carbon footprint, and recovery status
- Automated compliance reporting against regional regulatory frameworks
- Secure, role-based access for suppliers, auditors, and regulators.
By connecting PLM, MES, ERP, and cloud data lakes, the solution creates a digital thread for every battery. AI-powered monitoring flags potential issues before they impact customers, streamlines audits with guided checks, and supports multilingual assistance. Blockchain integration ensures tamper-proof data integrity, while its cloud-agnostic deployment allows global scalability.
Regulatory Push for Battery Passport Adoption
The launch of WATTSync comes ahead of critical global regulatory changes. From February 2027, all EV and industrial batteries sold in the European Union will require a digital battery passport.
Similarly, India has announced plans to roll out its own battery passport regime to improve safety, traceability, and export competitiveness. Other countries are also moving towards similar regulatory frameworks. WATTSync positions Tata Technologies’ clients to adapt early and confidently.
