Mumbai: Tata Advanced Systems Limited (TASL) has achieved a major milestone by becoming the first Indian company to manufacture the advanced naval 3D ASR Lanza-N under Transfer of Technology (ToT) from Indra, a global leader in defence and aerospace technology.
The first system has been successfully commissioned aboard an Indian Navy warship.

The 3D ASR Lanza-N, a naval variant of Indra’s Lanza 3D radar, is among the most advanced long-range air defence and anti-missile radars.

Its successful commissioning marks the beginning of multiple installations across the Indian Navy’s frigates, destroyers, and aircraft carriers. The project underscores strong Indo-Spanish collaboration in developing state-of-the-art naval air surveillance capabilities.
3D ASR Lanza-N: Sea Trials and Integration
Before induction, the radar underwent extensive sea trials to validate its performance against diverse naval and aerial platforms with varying radar cross-sections. The system has now been fully integrated with all onboard platforms of the Indian Navy warship.
Production and Localisation in India
To enable faster deliveries, Tata Advanced Systems has established a radar assembly, integration, and testing facility in Karnataka. This initiative reinforces India’s focus on defence self-reliance by localising manufacturing, assembly, and system integration.
