Scharge Partners with UK Firm Under TDB Programme to Develop Advanced EV Charging Solutions

New Delhi: Scharge Pvt. Ltd. has received support from the Technology Development Board (TDB), Department of Science & Technology (DST), Government of India, under the India–UK Collaborative R&D Programme for Industrial Sustainability.

The initiative aims to accelerate innovation in electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure, with Scharge at the center of developing next-generation solutions.

The Technology Development Board (TDB), under the Department of Science & Technology (DST), has signed an agreement with Scharge Pvt Limited for a project titled “Powering EV Charging Innovation.”

The project is being executed in partnership with UK-based Albright Product Design Limited and focuses on developing advanced and efficient EV charging infrastructure solutions.

The supported project by Scharge centers on building a next-generation EV charging solution tailored for commercial fleet and depot operations.

The technology integrates an innovative EV charger charge controller developed by Scharge Pvt Limited with a patented automated cable management system from its UK partner.

This combined approach aims to significantly enhance operational efficiency, safety, and usability in high-demand EV charging environments.

Scharge TDB MoU

A key feature of the Scharge-led solution is the introduction of a motorised overhead cable management system designed specifically for fleet-based applications.

This system streamlines charging operations by reducing manual handling, minimizing cable wear and tear, and improving user convenience.

It is compatible with existing AC Type-2 EV chargers and is expected to enhance charging turnaround times while ensuring a safer and more organized depot infrastructure.

By addressing critical operational challenges such as cable management, equipment protection, and workflow optimization, the Scharge solution is positioned to improve efficiency across EV charging depots.

Additionally, it contributes to enhanced safety standards by reducing risks related to cable damage, vandalism, and operational hazards.

Emerging Indian EV Technology Company Scharge: Focused on Developing Advanced Power Electronics and Smart Charging Systems

Through this initiative, Scharge aims to strengthen indigenous capabilities in EV charging technologies while enabling scalable and sustainable infrastructure for India’s growing electric mobility ecosystem.

Speaking on the occasion, Rajesh Kumar Pathak, Secretary, TDB, stated that collaborative R&D initiatives such as the India–UK programme play a critical role in accelerating the development of advanced, industry-relevant technologies.

He noted that innovations in EV charging infrastructure are essential to support the rapid adoption of electric mobility and to build a robust, efficient, and future-ready ecosystem in India.

The promoter of Scharge Pvt Limited expressed appreciation for the support and highlighted that the project will enable the company to bring innovative, globally competitive EV charging solutions to market, addressing the evolving needs of fleet operators and infrastructure providers.
