Pune: National Award-winning startup RampMyCity has launched a transformative accessibility drive in Pune, converting 30 prominent public places into wheelchair-accessible zones — including 20 police stations and 10 high-footfall restaurants.
The initiative marks a significant milestone in the city’s journey towards inclusive infrastructure.
Founded in 2020 by Prateek Khandelwal, a passionate social entrepreneur and accessibility advocate, RampMyCity is on a mission to build a more Inclusive, Accessible, and Empowered India.
The company has already made 600+ locations across six Indian cities accessible for people with disabilities (PwDs), senior citizens, and individuals with limited mobility. With Pune now on board, the impact continues to grow.
“Accessibility must be the norm, not the exception. Our initiative in Pune is a strong step towards cities that respect and include everyone. We’re here to build a world where equal access is embedded into everyday life,” said Prateek Khandelwal, Founder & Managing Director, RampMyCity.
The initiative was executed in collaboration with Pune Police, who enabled accessibility upgrades in 20 police stations across the city. Supported by CSR funds from leading corporates, the project also saw participation from restaurant owners in Koregaon Park and Kalyani Nagar.
Popular eateries like Daily All Day, Malaka Spice, Cobbler and Crew, Elephant and Co, Blue Tokai, Tsuki, and Qora now feature customized access ramps — welcoming all customers with dignity and ease.
“This is just the beginning. We’re committed to making 500 more locations in Pune accessible — including schools, hospitals, workplaces, parks, religious sites, and residential complexes,” added Khandelwal. He also called for CSR partnerships with Pune-based organizations willing to champion the cause of accessibility and inclusion.
