Pune Students Gain Agri-Tech Insights During Visit to Baramati Agricultural Trust

Pune: In a significant move toward experiential and interdisciplinary learning, 24 first-year B.Tech students from the School of Engineering and Technology at G. H. Raisoni International Skill Tech University, Pune, participated in a field visit to the Baramati Agricultural Development Trust to gain agri-tech insights.

The educational tour was designed to offer hands-on exposure to emerging agri-tech insights and innovations such as drone-assisted precision farming and AI-driven crop diagnostics.

Agri-Tech Insights for Students

The initiative aimed to familiarize students with sustainable agriculture techniques, including the application of artificial intelligence in sugarcane disease identification, soil-less farming, and advanced irrigation systems. The agri-tech exposure program aligns with the university’s focus on equipping future professionals with practical knowledge of technological integrations in agriculture.

The students were mentored by experts from the Baramati Agricultural Development Trust, including CEO Prof. Nilesh Nalawade, Senior Scientist Dr. Dhiraj Shinde, Training Coordinator Akash Valkunde, and KVK Extension Education Specialist Santosh Godse.

Dr. M. U. Kharat, Vice Chancellor of G. H. Raisoni International Skill Tech University, said, “This agri-tech exposure visit underlines our commitment to real-world learning and interdisciplinary innovation. By engaging with technologies like drone-based precision agriculture and AI-enabled crop monitoring, our students gain a competitive edge and are better prepared to address future challenges in sustainable development.”

The visit was coordinated by Dr. Jitendra Kumar Mishra (Registrar), Dr. Rahat Khan, Prof. Amit Kumar, Dr. Sonali Rangdale, and Prof. Sameem Akhtar. Sunil Raisoni, President, and Shreyas Raisoni, Executive Director of Raisoni Education, congratulated the entire team on the successful execution of the program, commending the efforts of the faculty, staff, and participating students.
