New Delhi: The Government of India has announced the reopening of the application window for the PLI Scheme for White Goods (ACs and LED Lights), allowing fresh applications and additional investments from 15th September 2025 to 14th October 2025.

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry stated that the reopening of the application process under the PLI Scheme for White Goods comes in response to increased industry interest and investment appetite.

This surge is driven by growing market demand and enhanced confidence in domestic manufacturing of air conditioner and LED light components under the PLIWG framework.

Application Reopened for PLI Scheme for White Goods

The application process will remain open for 30 days through the designated online portal (https://pliwg.dpiit.gov.in/).

No applications will be accepted after the closure date. The terms and conditions remain consistent with the original notification issued on 16th April 2021 and the scheme guidelines released on 4th June 2021, with subsequent amendments.

Eligibility for Applicants Under PLI Scheme for White Goods

Both new applicants and existing beneficiaries are eligible to apply, provided they meet the eligibility criteria.

Existing participants may also apply for higher target segments or submit applications through their group companies under different segments. All applicants must comply with the investment schedules outlined in the scheme guidelines.

Approved applicants in this fourth round will receive incentives only for the remainder of the scheme’s tenure. New applicants and those shifting to GP-2 (up to March 2023) will be eligible for incentives for a maximum of two years, while those moving to GP-1 (up to March 2022) will qualify for one year.

Flexibility in investment and sales thresholds will be allowed only once during the scheme period, as per the guidelines.

Progress of PLI Scheme for White Goods

So far, 83 applicants have been selected as beneficiaries under the scheme, with committed investments of ₹10,406 crore. These investments will enable the manufacturing of AC and LED components across the value chain, including those not currently produced in India at sufficient scale.

Background of PLI Scheme for White Goods

The Union Cabinet approved the PLI Scheme for White Goods on 7th April 2021 to promote the manufacture of components and sub-assemblies of air conditioners and LED lights in India.

The initiative aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat,’ emphasizing domestic manufacturing as a driver of growth and job creation.

The scheme, with an outlay of ₹6,238 crore, is being implemented over a seven-year period from FY 2021-22 to FY 2028-29.
