Pune: GE Aerospace has announced a USD 14 million investment to scale up operations at the Pune Facility, coinciding with the site’s tenth anniversary.
This investment follows the USD 30 million committed last year and aims to enhance manufacturing processes, automation, and capabilities for advanced engine components.
GE Aerospace Pune Facility Strengthening Manufacturing Capability
According to Vishwajit Singh, Managing Director of the GE Aerospace Pune Facility, the team has consistently delivered components for some of GE’s most advanced commercial jet engines, supported by a nationwide supplier network.

He said the renewed investment aligns with the Make in India initiative and reinforces India’s growing significance in the global aerospace manufacturing landscape.
Since its inception as a multi-business manufacturing hub, the Pune Facility has evolved into a high-tech aerospace parts supplier catering to company’s global commercial engine plants.
Today, it is supported by more than 300 suppliers connected to the facility and forms part of GE Aerospace’s wider network of over 2,200 suppliers across the country.
The site has played a critical role in workforce development, having trained more than 5,000 production associates in precision manufacturing over the past decade.
The facility also holds ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certifications, reflecting its emphasis on sustainability, workplace safety, and operational excellence.
Pune Facility Driven by Lean Operating Model
The facility operates on FLIGHT DECK, GE Aerospace’s proprietary lean operating system focused on improving safety, quality, and efficiency.
Through FLIGHT DECK, the Pune Facility has reduced waste, enhanced process efficiency, increased output, and improved shop-floor safety. A newly established production line for a critical engine component has reported shorter lead times, improved productivity, and reduced downtime.
Longstanding Presence in India
GE Aerospace has been associated with India’s aviation sector for more than 40 years. Currently, 1,400 GE Aerospace and partner engines power aircraft operated by major Indian airlines.
Its defense engines and systems support key national platforms such as the Indian Air Force’s Light Combat Aircraft Tejas Mk1, various helicopters, and the Indian Navy’s aircraft carriers and frigates.
The Pune Facility, along with 13 local partner companies, forms a key component of the company’s global supply chain. Additionally, GE Aerospace’s India Technology Centre in Bengaluru, now 25 years old, continues to develop advanced aviation technologies for global deployment.
