Department of Posts Partners with MapmyIndia to Advance DIGIPIN Digital Addressing System

MapmyIndia MoU with Department of Posts

New Delhi: The Department of Posts (DoP), Ministry of Communications, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with MapmyIndia, a provider of mapping, IoT, and geospatial technology solutions, to advance the Digital Addressing System under the DIGIPIN initiative.

The agreement, formalized at Dak Bhawan, New Delhi, will enable MapmyIndia to integrate its mapping platform and applications with the Department of Posts’ DIGIPIN system.

This partnership is expected to boost accuracy in digital address generation and improve nationwide adoption.

MapmyIndia to Power DIGIPIN with Mapping and Navigation Integration

Under the MoU, MapmyIndia will provide base maps for the “Know Your DIGIPIN” application, ensuring accurate and location-based generation of digital addresses.

The functionality of DIGIPIN will also be embedded into the Mappls app, allowing users to search, navigate, and access addresses directly through the platform.

Additionally, MapmyIndia will allocate DIGIPINs to addresses already listed in its database, strengthening digital location services and enhancing seamless access for users across sectors.

Partnership to Build Indigenous National Digital Addressing System

Harpreet Singh, Member (Operations), Department of Posts, emphasized that the collaboration will significantly enhance DIGIPIN’s reach and create a standardized digital addressing system to benefit millions of citizens and enable efficient service delivery.

Rakesh Verma, Co-founder and CMD of MapmyIndia, said, “This collaboration with the Department of Posts marks a milestone in building a fully indigenous National Digital Addressing System. Integration of our APIs and SDKs into DIGIPIN applications will empower citizens and businesses with seamless solutions and services while ensuring accessibility via the Mappls app.”

Driving Adoption of Address as a Service (AaaS) in India

The integration of DIGIPIN into the Mappls application will also enable enterprises, government bodies, and developers to incorporate the system into their platforms.

This will foster a larger ecosystem of services and innovations, supporting the Department of Posts’ Digital Address Code initiative and advancing the Address as a Service (AaaS) framework in India.
