Mumbai: The State Bank of India announced its financial results for the quarter ended September 30, 2025 (SBI Q2FY26), posting a net profit of ₹20,160 crore, up 9.97% year-on-year (YoY).
The bank’s total business crossed the ₹100 trillion mark, reflecting sustained growth across all key segments during the quarter.
Strong Financial Performance in SBI Q2FY26
During SBI Q2FY26, the bank’s operating profit rose 8.91% YoY to ₹31,904 crore, while Net Interest Income (NII) increased 3.28% YoY to ₹42,984 crore.
The Return on Assets (ROA) and Return on Equity (ROE) for the half year stood at 1.15% and 20.21%, respectively.
The Net Interest Margin (NIM) for the quarter was 2.97% at the whole-bank level and 3.09% domestically, reflecting stable interest spreads despite rising funding costs.
Advances and Deposits Growth in SBI Q2FY26
SBI’s gross advances grew 12.73% YoY to ₹44.19 lakh crore, with domestic advances up 12.32% YoY. The retail portfolio expanded 15.09% YoY, led by robust growth in SME advances (18.78%), agriculture advances (14.23%), and personal loans (14.09%).
The corporate loan book registered a 7.10% YoY increase.
On the liabilities side, total deposits rose 9.27% YoY to ₹55.91 lakh crore, with CASA deposits growing 8.06% YoY. The CASA ratio stood at 39.63% as of September 2025.
Asset Quality and Capital Position
SBI’s asset quality showed continued improvement in Q2FY26, with the Gross NPA ratio declining to 1.73% (down 40 bps YoY) and Net NPA ratio improving to 0.42% (down 11 bps YoY). The Provision Coverage Ratio (PCR) stood at 75.79%, while PCR including AUCA improved to 92.29%.
The slippage ratio for the quarter improved to 0.45%, while the credit cost remained low at 0.39%. SBI’s Capital Adequacy Ratio (CAR) as of September 2025 was 14.62%, indicating a robust capital position to support future growth.
Digital Growth and Alternate Channels
Digital adoption continued to rise, with over 64% of SB accounts opened digitally through YONO in Q2FY26. The share of alternate channels in total transactions increased to ~98.6% in H1FY26 from ~98.2% in H1FY25, underscoring SBI’s strong digital transformation momentum.
