Sahyadri Hospitals Launches Zindagi Milegi Dobara Campaign to Inspire Organ Donation Pledges

Zindagi Milegi Dobara Campaign

Pune: Sahyadri Hospitals has rolled out the Zindagi Milegi Dobara Campaign to drive nationwide awareness on organ donation and encourage citizens to pledge towards this life-saving cause.

The initiative, launched on World Organ Donation Day, runs until August 31, 2025, and will be implemented across all Sahyadri Hospitals in Pune, Nashik, Karad, and Ahilyanagar.

India’s deceased organ donation rate remains among the lowest globally, at less than one donor per million population, despite performing nearly 18,900 organ transplants in 2024 and ranking third in the world by volume.

This mismatch between availability and demand leaves over 1.75 lakh patients in need of kidney transplants and approximately 50,000 each requiring liver, heart, or lung transplants annually.

The Zindagi Milegi Dobara Campaign will employ a mix of social media engagement, video challenges, myth-busting educational content, and on-ground activities to inspire the public to make an organ donation pledge.

Speaking on the importance of such initiatives, Sahyadri Hospitals highlighted a recent case in Pune where a 21-year-old donor saved five lives after being declared brain dead.

The donor’s family’s decision enabled successful transplants for patients suffering from terminal liver, heart, lung, and kidney failure—underscoring the life-changing power of organ donation.

Citizens can participate by pledging online via the campaign portal www.ZindagiMilegiDobara.com, scanning a QR code on campaign materials, or visiting organ donation pledge kiosks located in Sahyadri Hospitals, its corporate office, and key metro stations, where trained volunteers will assist them through the process.

The campaign also offers a special attraction – pledgers may get an opportunity to meet Bollywood icon Anil Kapoor, who is supporting the initiative.

By joining the Zindagi Milegi Dobara Campaign, individuals can give the priceless gift of life and contribute to a movement that aims to normalize organ donation as a shared social responsibility.
