Pune: The Pune Grand Tour 2026, India’s first-ever UCI 2.2 Pro Stage Elite Race for Men, was officially unveiled with the launch of its emblem and mascot, heralding a new era for competitive cycling in India.

The event, scheduled from January 19 to 23, 2026, will serve as a qualifying race for the LA 2028 Summer Olympics, allowing international athletes to earn crucial UCI points.

The unveiling ceremony saw participation from Maharashtra’s top leadership, including Devendra Fadnavis, Chief Minister, and Ajit Pawar, Deputy Chief Minister and Guardian Minister of Pune.

Supported by the Cycling Federation of India (CFI), the Ministry of Sports and Youth Welfare, Maharashtra, and the Pune District Administration, the event symbolizes a unified vision to propel India into the global cycling community.

Chief Minister Fadnavis stated, “The Pune Grand Tour 2026 represents a defining milestone for Maharashtra’s sporting vision. This initiative strengthens our sports infrastructure and fosters a culture that will nurture India’s future cycling champions.”

Deputy Chief Minister Pawar added, “Cycling transcends sport – it is a global movement. The Pune Grand Tour marks India’s formal entry into this international fraternity and sets the stage for our athletes to compete globally.”

Pune Grand Tour 2026: A 437-Km Challenge Showcasing Maharashtra’s Terrain

The Pune Grand Tour 2026 will feature a demanding 437-kilometre course covering Pune district’s urban zones, hilly landscapes, and rural backdrops.

Classified as an elite UCI event, it promises a mix of endurance, speed, and strategy, positioning Maharashtra as the hub of India’s cycling revolution.

According to Jitendra Dudi, Pune District Collector and event in-charge, “With the Pune Grand Tour 2026, India steps confidently onto the world cycling stage. Our goal is to inspire youth participation and build a legacy where cycling is not just a pastime but a pathway to professional excellence.”
