Pune: Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), a Fortune Global 500 company and a Maharatna PSU, is hosting the 7th PSPB InterUnit Squash Tournament at the renowned Maharashtra Squash Academy, Undri.
The PSPB InterUnit Squash Tournament has brought together some of the finest squash talent from across the oil and gas sector, highlighting competitive excellence and industry-wide sports participation.
Organised under the aegis of the Petroleum Sports Promotion Board (PSPB), the PSPB InterUnit Squash Tournament underscores BPCL’s sustained commitment to promoting sporting excellence and fostering a strong competitive sporting culture within the energy industry.
The tournament serves as a key platform for athletes representing various public sector undertakings to compete at a national level.

The PSPB InterUnit Squash Tournament was inaugurated by Thomas James, Head – Retail (West), BPCL, in the presence of Lalit Watts, Advisor, PSPB, along with senior officials, players, and sports enthusiasts. The inauguration ceremony set the tone for an intense and high-calibre competition at the PSPB InterUnit Squash Tournament.
Deepak Jain, Head of Sports, BPCL, said, “At BPCL, we view nurturing sporting talent as an investment in the nation’s future. Our endeavour is to provide young athletes with the right platform, structured mentoring, and sustained developmental support to help them realise their full potential.
Today, we are supporting nearly 100 budding sportspersons through dedicated scholarship programmes, and with the upcoming Sports Academy in Kochi, we aim to institutionalise our grassroots efforts and build a strong, sustainable pathway for sporting excellence.”

The tournament features leading squash players, including Rahul Baitha (India No. 9) and Mayyappan (India No. 15), along with BPCL’s promising talent Reiva Nimbalkar.

This edition of the PSPB InterUnit Squash Tournament also carries special significance as it marks the final PSPB Squash appearance of Rajkumar Dubey, Director (HR), BPCL, ahead of his superannuation.
A distinguished squash player and three-time consecutive Veterans Category Champion at PSPB tournaments, Dubey’s participation adds an emotional and inspirational dimension to the PSPB InterUnit Squash Tournament.
