New Delhi: In a significant push toward inclusive healthcare, PNB Housing Finance, through its CSR arm Pehel Foundation, has launched the second phase of its Mobile Medical Unit (MMU) Program in partnership with Wockhardt Foundation.
This initiative aims to provide doorstep primary healthcare services to underprivileged communities and construction workers across major cities including Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, and Ahmedabad.
With the program now in its second phase, the initiative will reach over 1 lakh urban poor and migrant workers, offering crucial medical services at construction sites and slum areas where access to affordable and reliable healthcare is still limited.
“Healthcare is a fundamental right, not a privilege,” said Girish Kousgi, MD & CEO of PNB Housing Finance. “Our partnership with Wockhardt Foundation reflects our belief in equitable development. These mobile clinics will eliminate financial and logistical hurdles, bringing timely care to communities who need it the most.”
Each Mobile Medical Unit is staffed with a certified MBBS doctor, a pharmacist, and a licensed driver, and offers a wide array of healthcare services including:
- General health check-ups and treatments for common illnesses
- Management of chronic conditions like diabetes and hypertension
- Referrals for advanced treatment when necessary
- Awareness and hygiene education sessions
- Information on government health schemes
Denis Varghese, Director at Wockhardt Foundation, added, “With over 93,000 individuals served in Phase 1, this new chapter will help us reach even more communities and make a meaningful difference. Our goal is to empower people to take charge of their health by bringing essential services directly to them.”
The MMU program tackles real-world barriers such as wage loss due to long commutes for treatment, overcrowded hospitals, and lack of local healthcare infrastructure. The initiative also underscores the importance of preventive healthcare, helping communities to adopt healthier practices and reduce the burden of avoidable illnesses.
PNB Housing Finance Committed to Inclusive Healthcare
By launching Phase 2, PNB Housing Finance reaffirms its commitment to sustainable urban development and inclusive healthcare — ensuring that no one is left behind in India’s journey toward improved health and well-being.
