Mumbai: SMFG India Credit Co. Ltd. successfully concluded the 8th edition of Pashu Vikas Day (PVD) on February 14, 2026, reinforcing its commitment to rural development through livestock welfare and community wellbeing.
Anchored around the theme ‘Sarvottam Seva: Pashu, Parivar aur Pragati’, Pashu Vikas Day highlighted the interconnectedness of livestock health, family security, and sustainable economic progress across rural India.
Launched in 2014, Pashu Vikas Day was designed to address the critical healthcare needs of cattle owners by providing free veterinary services and expert guidance.
Over the years, Pashu Vikas Day has evolved into one of the largest one-day cattle welfare programmes in the country, focusing on strengthening rural livelihoods and improving livestock productivity.
During the 2026 edition of Pashu Vikas Day, SMFG India Credit positively impacted over 1.55 lakh lives.
This included the treatment of approximately 1.4 lakh cattle and healthcare support for more than 14,000 individuals, benefitting over 30,000 households.
The initiative was conducted across 16 states and 510 SMFG Gramshakti branches, underlining the extensive reach of Pashu Vikas Day in rural India.

Pashu Vikas Day: Caring for Cattle, Strengthening Livelihoods
In Maharashtra, Pashu Vikas Day was organised at 59 locations, delivering essential healthcare services to more than 19,000 cattle and benefitting over 5,200 households.
Each camp under Pashu Vikas Day provided free cattle check-ups by local veterinary doctors, distribution of free medicines and vaccinations, and advisory services to improve milk yield among milch animals.

Over the years, Pashu Vikas Day has received multiple national and international recognitions for its scale and impact.
The initiative was featured in the Limca Book of Records in 2015, Best of India Records in 2018, World Book of Records in 2019, and the World Records Union in 2024 for hosting the largest single-day cattle care camps nationwide.
Building on this legacy, PVD achieved a major global milestone in 2025 by setting a Guinness World Records title for the ‘Largest Cattle Welfare Lesson’ conducted simultaneously across multiple locations in India.
