New Delhi: At the International Value Summit 2025, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, presented a bold roadmap aimed at positioning India as the No. 1 global hub for automobile manufacturing, green mobility, and infrastructure innovation.
India has recently surpassed Japan to become the third-largest automobile market worldwide. Speaking at the summit, Gadkari announced that the government is targeting the top position within the next five years.
“Today, all major global automobile companies have a presence in India. Their focus has shifted from assembly to exporting vehicles worldwide,” he said. He highlighted that India’s two-wheeler sector alone exports over 50% of its production, underlining the country’s expanding global footprint.

Green Mobility at the Forefront of International Value Summit 2025
Addressing the summit, Gadkari emphasized India’s leadership in electric vehicles, hydrogen fuel, and alternative fuel technologies. “Hydrogen trucks have already been launched, with pilot projects underway across ten routes. Our aim is to lead the world in green mobility,” he said.
The government has extended ₹600 crore in grants to accelerate hydrogen infrastructure, with industry support from companies including Tata Motors, Ashok Leyland, Reliance, and Indian Oil. Trials of new fuels such as isobutanol and bio-bitumen are ongoing, with promising results.
Infrastructure Innovation Spotlighted at International Value Summit 2025
Highlighting India’s road development achievements, Gadkari noted that the country now has the second-largest road network in the world. Travel efficiency has improved significantly – Panipat to Delhi Airport now takes just 35 minutes compared to the earlier three hours.
Major infrastructure projects are underway, including the Chennai–Bengaluru Expressway and the ₹23,000 crore Bengaluru Ring Road, both expected to redefine connectivity and urban mobility.

Sustainability Takes Center Stage at International Value Summit 2025
Sustainability was another key theme. Gadkari announced that over 80 lakh tonnes of waste from the Ghazipur landfill have been repurposed for road construction, reducing the landfill’s height by seven metres. He further pointed to trials of rice straw–based bio-bitumen, which has outperformed petroleum-based alternatives while also mitigating stubble burning.
Call for Global Partnerships at International Value Summit 2025
Closing his address, Gadkari invited international collaboration in areas such as precast road construction, tunnel engineering, hydrogen transport systems, and circular economy solutions. “India has no resource problem. Our road network is monetized, our revenue is strong. What we need is your innovation, your technology, and your cooperation,” he told delegates.
