Chennai: The Sitaram Jaipuria Foundation honoured distinguished medical professionals at the third edition of its Medical & Healthcare Excellence Awards, recognising their outstanding contributions to India’s healthcare ecosystem.
The Sitaram Jaipuria Foundation presented awards worth ₹90 lakhs to the doctors whose work continues to inspire innovation, leadership, and excellence in the medical community.
Among the key awardees, Dr Thara Rangaswamy from Chennai received the prestigious ‘Smt. Gayatri Jaipuria Women’s Medicine and Healthcare Excellence Award’, while Dr V. Mohan was honoured with the ‘Ashwini Kumar Award for Healthcare Excellence in Diabetes & Obesity Care’. The recognition by the Sitaram Jaipuria Foundation highlights their significant contributions to advancing healthcare outcomes in India.
The awards ceremony was held in New Delhi as part of the SJF Scientific Symposium and Awards Program, organised by the Sitaram Jaipuria Foundation to commemorate the Birth Centenary of Late Shri Sitaram Jaipuria.
The day-long symposium brought together leading voices from across the medical fraternity to deliberate on the theme “Obesity, Diabetes, and Other Cardiometabolic Diseases.”
Hosted by the Sitaram Jaipuria Foundation and chaired by Ashok Jaipuria, Chairman of the Foundation and Chairman & Managing Director of Cosmo First Ltd., the event convened eminent doctors, researchers, and healthcare leaders.
The platform enabled meaningful discussions around emerging healthcare challenges and innovations, further reinforcing the Sitaram Jaipuria Foundation’s commitment to fostering knowledge exchange in the medical field.
The evening concluded with the awards ceremony by the Sitaram Jaipuria Foundation, celebrating individuals whose dedication and leadership are shaping the future of healthcare in India and beyond.
Instituted to recognise exceptional achievements, the awards honoured professionals across diverse areas including clinical practice, medical research, rural healthcare delivery, public health leadership, and specialised treatment advancements.

- Dr Himmatrao Saluba Bawaskar – Medical Director, Bawaskar Hospital & Clinical Research Centre, Mahad, Maharashtra
- Dr Sadanand Dagadu Raut – Consultant Physician & Director, Vighnahar Nursing Home, Narayangaon, Maharashtra

The third edition of the awards by the Sitaram Jaipuria Foundation witnessed strong participation, receiving 476 entries and 233 applications, reflecting the growing commitment to recognising excellence in healthcare.
The event also featured a special session titled “Celebrating Excellence: Featuring Previous Edition Awardees,” where distinguished doctors including Prof. (Dr) Raman Krishna Kumar, Dr Ashish Satav, Prof. (Dr) Jeyaraj Durai Pandian, and Prof. (Dr) Pratibha Singhi shared insights from their journeys and discussed evolving challenges and opportunities in the healthcare sector.
