Pune: In a major initiative to bridge the gap between academic learning and industry demands, G.H. Raisoni College of Engineering and Management, Pune, in partnership with Savitribai Phule Pune University, successfully conducted an Internship and On-The-Job Training (OJT) Awareness Program for final-year B Tech students.
The event was inaugurated by Dr R D Kharadkar (Campus Director, Raisoni College), Dhiraj Kumar Rai (Managing Director, Shapers India Pvt. Ltd.), Dr Pradeep Chatterjee (CEO, IAL Academy), and Dr Vaibhav Hendre (Associate Director, Raisoni College).
Over 100 students attended the Internship and On-The-Job training awareness program, which aimed to enhance career readiness by offering insights into industry expectations and workplace culture.

Internship and On-The-Job Training: Bridging the Industry-Academia Gap
In his keynote address, Dr R D Kharadkar stressed the critical need for strong collaboration between academia and industry. “Internships and OJT provide real-world exposure, enabling students to connect theoretical knowledge with practical applications,” he noted.
Dhiraj Kumar Rai emphasized the importance of aligning educational content with evolving corporate requirements, while Nitin Parikh, Associate Director at Accenture, shared strategies to make internships more impactful and transformative for the modern workforce.
Insights from Industry Experts
A high-powered panel discussion featured more than 25 senior HR professionals and industry leaders, who discussed workplace preparedness, Gen Z behavior in corporate environments, and best practices to stand out during internships. Dr Pradeep Chatterjee, CEO of IAL Academy, highlighted the need for students to align their goals with dynamic industry trends.

The event was coordinated by Sachin Umre (Head of Training & Placement) and Dr Shyam Mishra (Dean, Training & Placement). Leadership from Raisoni Education Group – including President Sunil Raisoni, Executive Director Shreyas Raisoni, and Campus Director Dr R D Kharadkar — reiterated the importance of such programs in preparing students for future career challenges.
With its focus on Internship and On-The-Job Training, the awareness initiative is set to play a vital role in enhancing employability and real-world skills among engineering graduates.
