IEEE Women in Engineering Scholarship Empowers GHRCEM Girls

Pune: Demonstrating academic excellence and leadership potential, two students from G H Raisoni College of Engineering and Management (GHRCEM), Pune – Komal Kathawade (SY Computer Engineering) and Anuja Bhise (TY Mechanical Engineering) – have been honored with the IEEE Women in Engineering Scholarship (WIE) 2024-25, sponsored by Quest Global.

The IEEE Women in Engineering Scholarship, which aims to foster gender diversity and promote equal opportunities in STEM, was presented in a prestigious ceremony attended by eminent figures such as Tushar Joshi (Pune Center Head, Quest Global), Gayatri Thakare (Brand Manager ESG, Quest Global), and leaders from the IEEE Pune Section, including Dr Amar Buchade, Dr Rajashree Jain, and Dr Simran Khiani.

As part of the initiative, 388 female engineering students from 153 institutions across India were selected, with 60 meritorious students from Maharashtra receiving laptops worth ₹78,000 each. This transformative step is expected to enhance the educational experience and digital readiness of scholarship recipients.

Dr Simran Khiani, Chair of IEEE WIE Pune Section and HoD of Computer Science and Engineering at GHRCEM, along with Rohini Devnikar, mentored and supported the selected scholars. The recognition marks a major milestone in their journey towards becoming future technology leaders.

“Komal and Anuja’s achievement reflects the academic caliber and potential of our students,” said Dr R D Kharadkar, Campus Director, GHRCEM Pune. “At GHRCEM, we are committed to empowering women in engineering and providing them with the tools and opportunities to succeed.”

Chairman of Raisoni Education, Sunil Raisoni, and Executive Director, Shreyas Raisoni, joined Dr Kharadkar in congratulating the awardees and extended their best wishes for continued success.
