Wockhardt Hospitals Launches ‘Miracle’ Unit for Advanced Mother & Child Care in Mumbai

Miracle

Mumbai: At a time when premature births and neonatal complications are rising in urban India, Wockhardt Hospitals, Mumbai Central has launched ‘Miracle’ – a dedicated Mother & Child Care Unit aimed at strengthening fertility services, high-risk pregnancy care, and specialised newborn intensive care across Mumbai and the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR).

The launch of Miracle marks a significant step toward integrated maternal and neonatal healthcare in one of India’s busiest metropolitan regions.

The Miracle unit brings together advanced IVF (In Vitro Fertilisation) services, maternity care, a fully equipped Labour Operation Theatre (Labour OT), and advanced neonatal care under one roof.

This integrated approach ensures seamless management from conception and pregnancy to delivery, postnatal care, and newborn support.

With Miracle, patients gain access to a comprehensive healthcare ecosystem designed to address both routine and complex medical needs.

Strategically located in South Mumbai, Miracle is designed for accessibility, catering to patients from South Mumbai, Central Mumbai, and extended MMR regions including Thane and Navi Mumbai.

The facility addresses the growing demand for specialised maternal and neonatal care, offering timely interventions—an essential requirement in densely populated urban environments. The introduction of Miracle further enhances healthcare accessibility and continuity of care.

Equipped to support fertility treatments and manage both routine and high-risk pregnancies, Miracle ensures immediate access to critical care.

This is particularly vital in emergency scenarios where rapid medical response can significantly impact outcomes. The unit strengthens Mumbai’s healthcare infrastructure by offering coordinated and multidisciplinary care.

Key Highlight of Miracle: Advanced Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)

To manage critically ill and high-risk newborns, the NICU includes a 6-bed intensive setup (expandable to 7) and is equipped with high-frequency ventilators, neonatal ventilators, incubators, and modern open care warmers.

Through Miracle, Wockhardt Hospitals aims to deliver improved neonatal outcomes with faster and more efficient clinical response systems.

Another notable feature of Miracle is the availability of nitric oxide therapy—a specialised treatment used to manage neonatal pulmonary hypertension.

Currently available in only a limited number of centres in Mumbai, this capability strengthens Miracle’s position as an advanced neonatal care facility. It enables enhanced respiratory and cardiac support for newborns requiring intensive care.

The Miracle unit also integrates advanced monitoring systems, neonatal transport support across Mumbai & MMR, and comprehensive nutritional care.

These capabilities ensure continuity of treatment from conception through recovery. The presence of a dedicated Labour OT enhances emergency preparedness and facilitates seamless coordination between obstetric, fertility, and neonatal teams—critical in time-sensitive cases.

Speaking on the launch, Ms. Zahabiya Khorakiwala, Managing Director, Wockhardt Hospitals, said, “This launch reflects our commitment to strengthening comprehensive mother and child care in Mumbai. With Miracle, including advanced IVF services and Neonatal ICU, we aim to offer a complete ecosystem supported by a team of highly experienced doctors and nurses, ensuring the best care for both mothers and newborns, especially in high-risk situations.”

Dr. Virendra Chauhan, Centre Head, added, “By integrating IVF services, maternity care, Labour OT, and advanced neonatal care under one roof in Mumbai Central, we are better equipped to manage complex cases that require immediate and coordinated intervention, especially for patients across Mumbai and the MMR region.”

Highlighting the importance of early neonatal care, Dr. Fazal Nabi, Head of Paediatrics, said, “The first few days of life are critical, particularly for premature and low birth weight babies. With advanced ventilation and therapies like nitric oxide now available in Mumbai, we can significantly improve survival and recovery outcomes for newborns.”
