AFMC Pune to Host ARMEDiCON 2026, the 74th Annual Armed Forces Medical Conference

The Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC), Pune, will host ARMEDiCON 2026, the 74th Annual Armed Forces Medical Conference, from 04 February 2026 to 06 February 2026.

Recognised as the country’s only multispecialty medical conference of its kind, ARMEDiCON 2026 serves as the largest professional and academic platform for Medical, Dental, and Nursing personnel of the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force.

ARMEDiCON 2026 reaffirms the commitment of the Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMS) to advancing institutional, multicentric, and collaborative medical research.

The conference will showcase recent scientific developments, healthcare innovations, and best practices, with outcomes expected to benefit both the Armed Forces healthcare system and the civilian medical ecosystem.

The three-day conference is being organised under the patronage of Lt Gen Pankaj P Rao, Director and Commandant, AFMC Pune, and Colonel Commandant, Army Medical Corps.

ARMEDiCON 2026 Reinforces Collaborative Medical Research within AFMS

A wide range of contemporary healthcare challenges and emerging opportunities will be discussed through structured scientific sessions, workshops, and panel discussions, aligning with the AFMS vision of excellence in medical research, education, and healthcare delivery.

Surg VAdm Arti Sarin, PVSM, AVSM, VSM, Director General Armed Forces Medical Services (DGAFMS), will attend the event as the Chief Guest. The inaugural session will feature a keynote address by Lt Gen Pratik K Sharma, SYSM, PVSM, AVSM, VSM, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Northern Command.

The scientific deliberations at ARMEDiCON 2026 will include participation from distinguished healthcare experts and academicians, such as Dr Soumya Swaminathan, former Principal Scientist and former Director General of ICMR, and Lt Gen Syed Ata Hasnain, PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, SM, VSM (Retd), among others.

Senior leadership from the Armed Forces Medical Services will also be present, including Surg VAdm Kavita Sahai, AVSM, SM, VSM, DGMS (Navy); Lt Gen Vineet Sharma, AVSM, VSM, DGDS and Colonel Commandant, Army Dental Corps; Air Mshl Sandeep Thareja, SM, VSM, DGMS (Air); Surg VAdm Anupam Kapur, NM, DGHS (AF); Lt Gen Shivinder Singh, AVSM, Commandant, AMC Centre & College; Lt Gen CG Muralidharan, AVSM, DGMS (Army); Air Mshl Subramanian Shankar, DCIDS (Medical); Lt Gen Avinash Das, Commandant, Army Hospital (Research & Referral); and Surg VAdm Vivek Hande, AVSM, VSM, DG (Org & Pers).

Over the years, ARMEDiCON has evolved into a critical forum for strategic planning, evaluation of medical practices, and translation of research into clinical and operational application.

While the conference primarily focuses on the specialised healthcare needs of the Armed Forces, its deliberations have consistently contributed to strengthening India’s broader healthcare framework.

Beyond scientific sessions, ARMEDiCON 2026 will host meetings of key institutional bodies, including the Armed Forces Medical Academic Committee (AFMAC), the MJAFI Governing Council, and the AFMC Management Committee, reinforcing academic governance and operational coordination within AFMS.

The conference is being organised under the guidance of Maj Gen Atul Seth, VSM, Dean and Deputy Commandant, AFMC.

Envisaged as a landmark event, ARMEDiCON 2026 is expected to support continued advancements in medical research, healthcare policy, and service delivery, with impact extending beyond the Armed Forces to the national healthcare system.
