Steam Generator for Haryana Nuclear Power Plant

Mumbai: L&T Heavy Engineering has successfully dispatched a Steam Generator for the Haryana Nuclear Power Plant, formally known as Gorakhpur Haryana Anu Vidyut Pariyojana (GHAVP), located in Fatehabad district, Haryana.

This milestone reinforces India’s nuclear energy expansion and showcases L&T’s leadership in critical equipment manufacturing.

The dispatched Steam Generator, ceremonially flagged off from L&T’s state-of-the-art Hazira manufacturing facility in Gujarat, marks the first of four units being built for Haryana Nuclear Power Plant Units 3 and 4.

Significantly, the delivery was completed seven months ahead of schedule, underscoring L&T’s efficiency and reliability in nuclear component production.

Senior officials present at the ceremony included NPCIL Chairman & Managing Director Bhuwan Chandra Pathak, Director (Technical) Rajesh Veeraraghavan, and executives from NPCIL and L&T.

Haryana Nuclear Power Plant: Part of India’s Indigenous Nuclear Fleet Expansion

GHAVP Units 3 and 4 form part of the 10 indigenous 700 MWe Pressurised Heavy Water Reactors (PHWRs) being developed in fleet mode by the Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL). These projects are central to India’s roadmap of achieving 100 GWe nuclear capacity by 2047.

Speaking at the ceremony, NPCIL CMD Pathak said, “With a remarkable technology transformation, L&T Heavy Engineering has enhanced both speed and quality of execution. This demonstrates industry preparedness in nuclear manufacturing and will significantly contribute to India’s nuclear power targets.”

L&T’s Role in Nuclear Manufacturing for Viksit Bharat 2047

Anil V Parab, Whole-time Director and Senior EVP of L&T, added, “Heavy Engineering continues to lead the industry in manufacturing critical nuclear components. With our end-to-end capabilities as a one-stop solution provider, L&T will play a major role in India’s 100 GWe nuclear programme under Viksit Bharat – 2047.”

Global Benchmark in Steam Generator Delivery

L&T set a global benchmark by completing the Steam Generator in just 33 months. To date, the company has delivered five Steam Generators for India’s 10 x 700 MWe PHWR fleet programme, strengthening its reputation for precision engineering and timely execution.
