DBS Bank India Waives Prepayment and Foreclosure Charges for MSMEs Registered with UDYAM

DBS Bank India

Pune: In a major relief for small businesses, DBS Bank India has announced a complete waiver on prepayment and foreclosure charges for all registered Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).

This landmark decision, announced on MSME Day, positions DBS Bank as one of the first banks in the country to implement a blanket waiver for MSMEs across the board.

The waiver is effective immediately and applies to both existing active borrowers and new MSME clients, provided they are registered with UDYAM, the government-recognised MSME portal.

DBS Bank: Supporting India’s MSME Backbone

This move is part of DBS Bank’s commitment to fostering financial inclusion and improving credit accessibility for India’s vast MSME sector. MSMEs play a crucial role in India’s economy, contributing significantly to employment, innovation, and exports. Yet, limited access to flexible and affordable credit has been a persistent challenge for these enterprises.

By removing prepayment and foreclosure penalties, DBS Bank India is addressing a long-standing barrier that often discourages early repayment or refinancing. This step is aligned with regulatory guidance focused on promoting transparent lending practices and supports MSMEs in managing their cash flows more efficiently.

Empowering MSMEs with Financial Flexibility

“Access to flexible and affordable credit remains a critical need for micro, small, and medium enterprises,” said Sudarshan Chari, Managing Director and Head – SME Banking at DBS Bank India.

“By waiving prepayment and foreclosure charges, we are empowering MSMEs to repay loans early, optimise cash flow, and redirect funds towards priority business areas like inventory, digital transformation, or market expansion.”

Chari added that the initiative reflects DBS Bank India’s broader mission to provide need-based, scalable financial solutions that enable resilience and long-term growth for small businesses.
