Rotating Machinery Bootcamp

Pune: As part of its ongoing national skilling mission, the Foundation for Science Innovation and Development (FSID), with the support of the Ministry of Heavy Industries, launched an intensive three-day Rotating Machinery Bootcamp under the SamridDHI skill-building program at COEP Technological University’s Department of Mechanical Engineering.

Rotating Machinery Bootcamp focused on bridging the gap between academia and industry, equipping final and pre-final year engineering students with real-world, application-focused training on rotating machinery, including turbines, compressors, and pumps.

Industry-Focused Curriculum & Digital Integration

Mentored by domain experts from IISc Bengaluru, the rotating machinery bootcamp covered:

  • Advanced diagnostics in rotating systems
  • Vibration analysis & dynamic balancing
  • Real-time system monitoring
  • Application of Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT)
  • Simulation through 3D visualizations and Digital Twin technologies

The immersive learning environment aimed to prepare students for modern manufacturing and predictive maintenance ecosystems increasingly driven by smart diagnostics and automation.

“This initiative is part of the pan-India Pravriddhi product acceleration program. Our goal is to train thousands of students in advanced mechanical and manufacturing systems using a blend of domain mentorship, IIoT, and virtual tools,” said Yogesh Pandit, Director of Product Acceleration at FSID.

Special acknowledgment was extended to Prof Sunil Bhirud, Vice Chancellor, COEP Tech University, Prof Nagesh Chougule, Head of Mechanical Engineering, and Dr Vikas Phalle from VJTI Mumbai for their pivotal roles in organizing and delivering the bootcamp.
